Palace's Player of the Season in the Championship Mile Jedinák has found the transition to top-flight a difficult one, however he appears to be slowly making the step-up required in the Premier League. As you would expect from an Aussie, gritty, hard-working performances have been a trademark of Jedinák making himself another fans favourite at Selhurst Park. This won him the captains armband at Palace, who are keen to retain the services of the defensive-midfielder and are currently in talks regarding a contract extension. Whilst not the strongest on the ball, it his defensive work which makes Jedinák the player that he is. His capabilities are his tackling, work-rate and strength - these abilities was what made him such an important in the Championship - but it is his lack of speed and on-the-ball abilities that lets down Jedinák and made his transition into the Premier League a rough one. In Ross Barkley you have one of England's brightest prospects - coming from one of the best academies in England. At the tender age at 20, Barkley posses such confidence in his own ability and will not be intimidated by the opposition - something very important for a player looking to reach their potential. And at 6ft 2in he will not be bullied by the opposition, whilst also possessing explosive pace for someone of such height - something he can use to expose Jedinák. He is also a creative and direct player on the ball and has already formed a dangerous partnership with Romelu Lukaku. It will be a tough physical battle between the two however, I think Barkley's talent will prevail in this battle.
