Everton’s 2004/05 Champions League Qualifying Squad – Where Are They Now?

6. Mikel Arteta

€œThere€™s nobody better than Mikel Arteta, he€™s the best little Spaniard we know,€ rang out from the Goodison stands until the skillful winger left the club to join Arsenal in 2011. The former Ranger man joined the Blues on loan from Real Sociedad during the January transfer window, and was seen as a replacement for Gravesen. He was a smash hit on Merseyside, his creativity in the final third helping the club maintain their top-four push. Arteta is still very much a part of the Arsenal setup, although a recurring calf injury has kept his gametime to a minimum of late. Reports suggest that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger plans to offer him a position on the team€™s coaching staff at the end of the season.
