1. Mark Schwartzer (Chelsea) - 27 points per £1m
It's pretty ironic that the best point-per-pound buy happens to be this man. The 40-year-old Australian had an outstanding season at Fulham last year, earning 135 points with 8 clean sheets and 138 saves, leaving him our best point-per-pound purchase, according to statistics. However, proceed with copious amounts of caution.
While Schwartzer has been promised game-time for the Blues by new manager Jose Mourinho, he's pretty clearly the Number 2 at his new home of Stamford Bridge, and won't be their first-choice for their Premier League campaign. As a result, the experienced goalie will not feature as heavily this season, and despite his price being a cheap £5 million, you'd be much better off signing another goalkeeper, unless of course you'd like the Cech-Schwartzer combination. Which mightn't be the worst idea in the world...
