It was a frustrating afternoon for Fulham. As the half time whistle went the two sides were locked in an even battle, however 45 minutes later the final score told a different story. In the first half Fulham had some fantastic opportunities, Brede Hanglenad was denied by a stunning Artur Boruc save and Darren Bent also went close twice. Meulensteen may well be wondering how different the game could have been if one of those chances had been converted. Leading the line for the Cottagers yesterday was Bent, who has five goals in 23 games since joining on loan from Aston Villa in the Summer. Worryingly that low tally still makes the striker Fulham's second top scorer, one goal behind Steve Sidwell. Evidently, Meulensteen's team is crying out for a goal scorer and in Kostas Mitroglou they may well have signed one. The Greek international netted 17 times in 19 games for Olympiakos before signing for Fulham on deadline. Most impressively Mitroglou has scored 7 goals in 13 Champions League matches during the past two seasons, an indication that he can cut it at the highest level. If Fulham are to stay up then quite simply they must score more goals, 22 in 24 league games is a poor showing. Fans maybe wary about the loss of Dimitar Berbatov, but Mitroglou's statistics show he could just fire the Cottagers to safety.
