Fulham 0-3 Southampton: 5 Things We Learned

As Jay Rodriguez curled in Southampton's third goal in 11 minutes against Fulham, the Craven Cottage faithful slowly began to filter towards the exits. After an even first half, in which the home side had the better chances, Rene Meulensteen's side capitulated in the second 45 minutes. It now means Fulham have lost five of their last six league matches, conceding on average 3 goals a game during that period. The London club sit at the bottom of the table, with a goal difference of -31. Southampton, on the other hand, appear to have turned a corner. Victory over Fulham, plus a draw against Arsenal in midweek, rounds off a successful few days for Mauricio Pochettino's men. The Saints went about yesterday's match in their usual style, controlling possession and dictating the tempo of the match. While Fulham may have been poor in the second half, Southampton were equally impressive. With the transfer window now slammed shut and 14 games left this season, What Culture looks back on this encounter to assess what we can learn from the 90 minutes.
