A short-term signing by Walter Smith in January, 2007, David Weir went on to become one of the best signings Rangers have ever made, and experienced 5 incredible years at Ibrox, winning trophy after trophy during his tenure as captain.

Before Rangers even went into administration in February, 2012, Weir had announced that he'd be hanging up his boots, instead concentrating on launching a career in coaching and management. For those reasons, and due to his frank nature and honesty, the defender was exempt from any anger once players started tripping over one another to depart Rangers.

Now, Weir has returned to Ibrox, and will work as assistant manager to Mark Warburton in season 2015-2016. This follows an extended period in England, where the former Gers captain worked for clubs such as Everton, Sheffield United and Brentford.
