Is This Arsenal's Greatest XI?

ST. Thierry Henry

How can you have an Arsenal greatest eleven without including the team's greatest ever goalscorer? It's an impossible task. Of course, Arsenal have had some top quality strikers throughout the decades but none quite compare to the legend that is Thierry Henry.

Much like his French compatriot Robert Pires, Thierry didn't exactly hit the ground running when he made the switch to North London from Juventus. However, once his first goal hit the back of the net the rest came flooding in and he quickly became one of the best centre forwards the game has ever seen. Not bad for a bloke who was originally a pretty average winger.

He scored headers, tap-ins, long-range pile drivers, strikes you didn't think were possible and he even chipped in with the odd freak goal now and again too. However, the type of shot Thierry was synonymous with is when he would simply pass the ball into the net with the inside of his boot. It was so good because it looked effortless, yet each time he did it you knew that he'd spent hours upon hours practising those goals down at the training ground in London Colney.

He won an abundance of trophies with the team, plus personal accolades galore too but, most importantly, his abilities on the ball and charisma on the pitch made him the type of player that everyone admired and loved to watch, even if he was scoring against you.
