Joey Barton Stripped of QPR Captaincy & Fined Six Weeks Wages

Joey Barton has been stripped of his captaincy and fined six weeks wages by Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.

The 29-year-old is set to miss 12 matches in 2012/13 seasons as punishment. It was unclear whether QPR would further punish the player or look to sell him on before the season begins. The club's decision to punish the player further suggests he will play at part at Loftus Road this season once he sits out 12 games. A QPR statement read: "QPR FC can confirm Joey Barton has been fined six weeks' wages and will no longer be club captain. If Barton seriously breaches the club's disciplinary procedures again, the club reserves the right to terminate his contract." If QPR had decided to terminate Joey Barton contract the financial implication would of hurt the club with Barton only one year into his four year deal.
