John Carver Conforms To NUFC Stereotype And Brings More Shame To St James' Park
He can't have been serious... Surely?
"I still think I'm the best coach in the Premier League. "If I have the right tools I can do the job. I'm doing the job to the best of my ability." Played eight, lost eight. Nine points from a possible 48. Give your head a wobble, John. Those of us who can bare to look further into what John Carver was trying to put across in that now infamous press conference yesterday will try and defend his case with the following. John was trying to say, in his own special way, how nothing from outside of the club will get in the way of him doing his job. Nothing written in the press, shouted from the terraces; nothing whatsoever. He is confident in his (woefully inept) abilities and will save the club from relegation. No doubt in his mind. In reality however, all he did yesterday was set Newcastle Untied and their loyal fans up for more ridicule at the expense of the rest of the country. You ask any football fan outside of Newcastle what your typical Magpie stands for and they will tell you tales of fickleness, over inflated expectations, a misplaced sense of entitlement and unparalleled delusion. And all Carver did yesterday was conform with those ridiculous notions. Especially the last part of that most inaccurate of quadruplets. He is a self professed 'fan' after all which makes what he said yesterday all the more damning. On far too many occasions since January, and while he was Alan Pardew's number two for that matter, he has forgotten that he's representing more than just himself. He is representing the club and its people. Making them look nothing more than fools time and time again. Newcastle should have kept Pardew, shouldn't they? No. But Carver is doing everything in his power to make it look that way for sure. He needs to think before he acts. Unless he's planning on getting the hell out of Toon then there's sure to be plenty of people to help him on his way. Many outlets have decided to take "I'm the best coach in the league" part of his quote and twisted it like it deserved to be twisted. It's the most ridiculous thing that has come out of anyone's mouth since, well ever. He must know he is the worst Head Coach/Manager in the division. Everything he's put Newcastle fans through since January has left his CV in tatters. Not that he had much of a CV to begin with, apart from the 'I used to make Sir Bobby Robson's cups of tea' section. There isn't one area of his tenure as the top man at St James' Park that justifies himself as a Premier League manager and yesterday has to have set a new professional low. Something that is becoming all too commonplace for Geordie John. Stop making everyone laugh at Newcastle United, man!
