Liverpool Transfers: 5 Major Signings Brendan Rodgers Could Still Make

1. Alvaro Morata

Liverpool have been somewhat fortunate this season in that, during the first weeks of the season when Luis Suarez was suspended, Daniel Sturridge picked up the goal-scoring duties with aplomb. And when Sturridge became injured in December, Suarez continued his goal-scoring form that made him a contender for the PFA Player of the Year award last season. But they may not get away with that again if one or both pick up another knock, as rookie Iago Aspas will be the only available cover. Aspas has played 82 minutes of league football since September and has yet to put in a performance that suggests the Reds have three quality strikers rather than just two. Manchester City have four world-class forwards, as do United, and by contrast, Liverpool are scarce in that department, which could cost them a top four finish. Which is why a loan move for Alvaro Morata makes a lot of sense. Morata has been tipped to leave Madrid temporarily this month and return to Spain at the end of the season, and he would solve Brendan Rodgers' short term problems by giving him extra options up front. And then in the summer, he could look to sign someone on a permanent basis.
