Liverpool Transfers: 5 Signings To Bring Champions League Football To Anfield

5. Yohan Cabaye

Newcastle are set to brace themselves for fresh interest in Yohan Cabaye, with both Arsenal and Liverpool thought to be keen on the French midfielder, according to a recent report in the Express. Arsenal failed with a bid for the former Lille star over the summer but are expected to return with a fresh bid in the New Year, while Liverpool could rival it. Liverpool are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard and have identified midfield and attack as priority areas in January. Cabaye operates in a similar role as Gerrard - box to box - and can play virtually anywhere in the engine room, a lot like the veteran England international. The Magpies are reluctant to sell and the bidding would have to start above the failed £11 million Arsenal offered in the last window.
