4. Kevin Strootman
Kevin Strootman is one of the hottest properties on the market at this moment in time. He's impressed at both club and international level and is now widely believed to be on his way to a bigger league to compete at the highest level. Strootman is an excellent box to box midfielder and would be a great replacement for Steven Gerrard should he decide his future lies at Anfield. Former PSV coach, Dick Advocaat had this to say on Strootman's future: "(He would be good for) Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur." This kind of comment may raise the question of why he isn't good enough for a better team like Barca or Real but Advocaat goes on to add, "but I think he's also good enough for Manchester City and Manchester United". This might lead some to believe that Strootman would use Liverpool or Spurs as a stepping stone club to one of the bigger, Champions League playing teams - unless that team immediately became successful. Like Shawcross, Strootman ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool. He's hard working and a great passer with a great aggressive streak. He's also only 23 which means if any of the bigger boys came calling they could charge a much more profitable fee in a couple of years time. The Dutchman also stays injury free, having made 55 league appearances in the last two seasons. Strootman would be an excellent addition to any squad in any of Europe's top leagues so BR has to at least enquire about him.
