Liverpool Transfers: Updates On 10 Biggest Summer Rumours

henrik It's been another season of mediocrity at Anfield this season. Brendan Rodgers is implementing a plan that has shown form worthy of top 4 football, but inconsistencies have plagued his first full season at the club. Without the brilliance of Luis Suarez it would have been a disastrous season for the Reds as the Uruguayan goal scoring machine has been critical in Liverpool's position in the table. And like his on field exploits, he is at the top of the discussion with regards to the forthcoming summer transfer window. There has been assurance from John Henry and the Fenway Sports Group that resources will be available, but needless to say the spotlight is on Brendan Rodgers, Ian Ayre and the board to spend wisely. Increasing a squad is priority number one for Liverpool and there will be considerable movement. So here is my update on what I believe are the 10 biggest rumours concerning the Liverpool Football Club for the 2013/14 English Premier League season.....

10. Martin Skrtel

Ever since being benched by Rodgers after the debacle of the Fourth-Round FA Cup loss to Oldham Athletic, Skrtel€™s name has been mentioned as a probable exit from Anfield in the summer transfer window. Voted as the Reds €œPlayer of the Year€ last season, Skrtel has been linked with a move back to Russia and to his former club Zenit St. Petersburg. With the looming retirement of Jaime Carragher and the relative inexperience of fourth string centre-half Sebastian Coates, many fans (including this one) would like to see Martin retained along with the purchase of another highly credentialed central defender. It would take £10-12 million to lure Skrtel away from Merseyside and with Russian big-spenders Anzhi Makhachkala also interested it will be an interesting few months for the Slovak Republic captain.
