Man City: 5 Reasons Roberto Mancini Is NOT The Best Manager In England

5. Struggling To Follow Up On Success

Aguero Last season, arguably the greatest in Manchester City's history, was always going to be tough to follow up on. But with an owner with seemingly infinite spending power, along with already having by far the best squad in the league, it seemed only natural that this campaign would see City step it up a level. Going full-throttle right to the very last kick of last season seems to have taken its toll on the club. Up to now, it has been a much more lethargic campaign, with only sporadic reminders of the stunning side that snatched the breath from every football fan's lungs last year. The stats tell the story quite well - last season Joe Hart conceded 29 goals, this season already 24. Sergio Aguero, the final goal hero of last May, has managed 9 league goals so far this season, leaving him so far some way short of his previous tally of 23. David Silva's 15 assists of last season has been followed up by just 5 so far this time. Although it can be argued that there is still 12 games to go, it will take a miraculous lift in form if these key players are to emulate last season, never mind improve on it. Sources: ESPN
