5. Gonzalo Higuain
Real Madrid striker, Gonzalo Higuain, has already admitted that he sees his
future away from the Bernabeu especially with the rumoured interest for
Liverpools Luis Suarez. Higuain has been in decent form this season, scoring 16 goals in 28 La Liga games and not only is his scoring record better than Rooney this season, he has also proven that he can live up to Uniteds busy schedule. If Rooney does force a move away from Old Trafford, Higuain could easily be able to fill the gap that the Englishman would leave. The Argentine has been playing at a top level for several years and has experience in European games as well as on the international stage. Higuain cost the Spanish side just
£8.5 million in January 2007 and whilst he may not be as clinical as super-striker Robin van Persie adding his work ethic to the team could benefit Uniteds attacking play.
