The Special One is the top candidate for the Manchester United job. Since he was relieved of his duties at Chelsea, Mourinho has had the United job in his sights, and it is expected that he will be then man to bring glory back to the Red Devils. Mourinho has been a success everywhere he has been, but never for long periods of time. As good as Mourinho is, he has never been able to bring sustained success like Ferguson did. Would Mourinho bring the attacking football fans want to see? Probably not. Would he bring trophies back to Old Trafford? Probably yes. Would he be able to bring the years of consistent success that Fergie did? Probably not. The Portuguese manager would certainly bring short term glory to Old Trafford, but they will most likely be looking for a new Special One in three years time. If Mourinho is appointed, it shows that Manchester United are looking for a quick return to the top and are more focussed on the present than the long term standing of the club. A Ryan Giggs appointment would be a signal to the future. Expect to see Jose Mourinho prowling the Old Trafford touchline next season.
