Ryan Giggs has been moulded as the heir to the throne ever since Ferguson vacated the hot seat. Giggs moved into the dugout when Moyes arrived at Old Trafford, acting as a player/coach. He then took over from Moyes when the Scot was sacked and managed the team until the end of the season. When Van Gaal arrived, Giggsy remained at the club and was appointed assistant manager. Manchester United's reluctance to let Giggs leave Old Trafford suggests that he is being prepared to eventually become the club's manager, but if it does not happen this summer, then the former winger needs to escape Old Trafford and build up his own reputation in management. Like Neville, Giggs knows the club inside out.
