Worst Ever January Deals
5. Anders Lindegaard
Now, I feel bad for including Anders on the worst list and I actually feel that he's been a semi-decent acquisition for United. I'm sure many agree and are wondering why I have included him here, so bear with me. Not counting Frederic Veseli the club have made just ten January signings over the years, meaning that if you don't fit into the top five category, you're in the worst five instead. Lindegaard hasn't done enough yet to be considered a success in my opinion, but he is the best out of the "bad" signings made. Through no fault of his own, however, I do feel that Sir Alex's rotation of the two current goalkeepers has hindered De Gea a little bit. It's not so much an issue anymore as the manager seems to have learned from his (what I feel is a) mistake. But chopping and changing every game and dropping the young Spaniard for a mistake seemed to create a vulnerability about the defence. I admit it's very harsh and under normal circumstances I wouldn't include him in this section, but the fact that he is now considered a back-up says to me that we're not going to look back at Anders in future years as a success story.
