Man Utd Transfers: 5 Dream Signings That Could Revive Moyes's Career

1. Arturo Vidal

Arturo Vidal is simply one of the greatest central midfielders in the world right now, and though it may take a staggering amount to persuade Juventus to sell him, he is worth every penny. At just 26 years of age, Vidal has grown exponentially from a bit-part Udinese player, to a Juventus and Chile star, and his performances for his national side - which included five goals in eleven - sent them to the 2014 World Cup. The man ranked the eleventh greatest in Europe by Bloomberg is currently valued at around £82 million, a stumbling block for the club, but certainly lives up to the billing left by the likes of Paul Scholes and Roy Keane, who played pivotal roles in United's central midfield area of the past. Signing Vidal would make a real statement and silence some woes, but it would take a significant amount of money, a lengthy negotiation period and Juventus would need to line up an apt replacement. Along with the ageing Andrea Pirlo, Juve would be left with just Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio to fill the void, and although both are immensely talented, Vidal offers something different. United could opt to negotiate with former player Pogba or the aforementioned Marchisio, but Vidal offers something much needed for the club - grit and heart. The Chilean is best utilised as a box-to-box midfielder and would compliment Michael Carrick's playmaker role in the heart of the midfield. This would allow Rooney to play a more attacking role as he has been known to drop deeper in recent games, and Vidal's energetic style translates well to the Premier League. It may take a ton of cash, but Arturo Vidal is just the kind of player to revive Manchester United's weakened squad.
