Man Utd Transfers: 9 Key Signings Van Gaal Still Needs To Make

£60m might have already gone, but United's rebuilding is far from complete.

Nigel French/EMPICS SportNigel French/EMPICS SportDespite accusations that ousted champions Manchester United might have been looking towards a quieter summer than their dismal showing in the Premier League last season required, their two signings this week have been an impressive statement of intent. How ever you might feel about the considerable gamble of paying so much for Luke Shaw, whose value remains tied more to potential than anything else concrete, or if Ander Herrera will realise his potential as the touted successor to Iniesta, both players are of the right calibre to have an immediate impact. But Louis Van Gaal isn't the kind of manager to stand on ceremony, and regardless of how good those two signings might be for the future of United, there are some more pressing concerns that need to be addressed before the big kick off. Or at least before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August. To avoid accusations of panic-buying, and indeed to make further positive statements of intent that he has the situation under control, and that he will not allow his new club side to be left in Chelsea's wake in particular, Van Gaal needs to spend again, and he needs to spend as wisely as these suggestions.
