Newcastle: 10 Craziest Players Ever To Wear Black & White

3. Temuri Ketsbaia

Despite being a passably good striker, Georgian Temuri Ketsbaia is pretty much only famous for one moment, and one moment alone. The current Georgia national team manager scored an uninspiring 8 goals in more than 70 appearances, but one goal in particular has gone into Magpies folklore for the unedited insanity of Ketsbaia's passionate, and very probably unhinged celebration. The striker hit the headlines in 1998 when he was brought on late in a match against Bolton Wanderers and came off the bench to score and snatch victory at St. James' Park. Exploding into angry raptures, he then tore off his shirt, kicked the advertising hoardings, and attempted to remove his boots unsuccessfully to throw into the crowd along with his shirt, all while ignoring the spirited attempts by Alessandro Pistone to celebrate normally with him. Ketsbaia kicked off in frustration at being left out of the starting line-up, and clearly thought kicking lumps out of the boards was a smart way to make sure he got picked next game. He now wants to be remembered for anything other than the celebration, which comes up in interviews with him a lot, understandably, and it's not hard to see why on either account.
