Newcastle: 10 Things Pardew Should Be Applauded For

7. His Excuses Deflected Blame From Players

Perhaps the funniest, and most critical (certainly the most truthful) song about Pardew that rained down from the terraces was €œit€™s never your fault, it€™s never your fault, Alan Pardew, it€™s never your fault€. Pardew became famous for blaming anything and everything else for harrowing defeats... apart from himself: The Olympics, the wealth of other teams, the Notting Hill Carnival, not to mention underhanded jabs at the fans for not supporting the team. In fact, so famous and absurd did his list of excuses become, that the €˜sack Pardew€™ website included a random excuse generator on their home page. But, excuses aside, for the most part, Pardew had a skill for managing to deflect criticism and negativity from the terraces away from the players €“ and honestly, more than a few of them have deserves their fair share of blame for some of the terrible runs the Toon have put together of late. It could be argued that putting the blame on a wide variety of sources kept dressing room morale up at a time when it really should have been on the floor, and he deserves a little bit of credit, however inadvertent, for that.
