Even though there was some debate yesterday about whether Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini were actually injured and would miss the QPR game, the last update from the Chronicle said that it was unlikely that they'd be out for the month the national papers were reporting. They suggested that Taylor might actually make the game, and that Coloccini would be assessed later in the week, but whether their assessment of the former is right, the opinion on the Argentinian captain is not correct, as he's definitely out. According to Alan Pardew, Coloccini will miss at least the next three games - QPR, West Ham and Burnley - and should be back in time for the run of difficult games that come between the two Burnley fixture, including gems against Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs in the cup. The "easier" games come in the shape of Everton and Sunderland, so that's not exactly a confidence boost. But at least Coloccini will be back for those games (hopefully). The question now is who plays at centre-half. Coloccini is a big influence and will be a big miss inevitably. But Paul Dummett has come through at centre-half well, and if Steven Taylor is indeed fit that is another boost, because Mike Williamson should only really be classed as a back-up.
