Newcastle Fans Forum: What The Answers Really Mean

6. Wages

Question:"Can the club give the percentage change in first team salaries from February 2014 to February 2015?"Answer:
"The board stated that the figure was not something they would disclose. "The board has not discussed reducing the wage bill and conversely it continually assesses its transfer spend and wage bill in order to set it at an appropriate level to ensure the club meets one of its strategic aims of improving the quality of its squad."
What it really means: The player's wages are ridiculously low that there would be a full scale government enquiring if they were released to the public. And guess what, we want them to be lower this time next year *mua ha ha ha*. The board has discussed reducing the wage bill in private as we simply see the player's wages as underserved and seen better off in the bank of Mike. We will continue to sell all of our best players and replace them with cheaper options. This is how we roll.
