Newcastle Transfer News: Andy Carroll Offer To Be Increased

loan offer over the weekend with Liverpool instead claiming they are only interested in a full sale of their most expensive signing in history, in an attempt to regain as much of the £35 million fee they spent for him in January 2010. According to The Sun, Newcastle will offer as much as £23 million but given the way Mike Ashley operates, that seems a little high. Daily Mirror claim the offer will be £17 million from Newcastle, which seems much more realistic. What Culture had predicted yesterday that Newcastle would offer no more than £15 million, less than HALF of what they sold Carroll to Liverpool for in the first place. There could always be a player-exchange deal thrown into the mix. Liverpool have been linked with Demba Ba in the past and if Brendan Rodgers likes the idea of him being included in his team (and he clearly doesn't want Carroll the way he has publically tried to offload him) perhaps a money and player deal could be arranged. The big problem for Newcastle United however is figuring out how to pay Carroll's wages. The days of paying someone close to £100,000 a week (Carroll is believed to be on at least £90,000) died when they were relegated three seasons ago. They have a salary cap of around £50,000, with the only exceptions the likes of Fabricio Coloccini who got an extension on his £80,000 deal this summer and Jonas Gutierrez who was signed during the big-spending era.
