Newcastle Transfers: 10 Signings New Owners Must Target First

2. Chris Wood (CF) - Burnley

If Newcastle were looking to pick up a proven Premier League striker to help ease their current goal getting woes, then they could do a lot worse than looking at burly Burnley target man Chris Wood. The New Zealand born striker is, on a bad day, an absolute nuisance for defenders and, on a good day, a genuine Premier League quality goal-getter.

Wood has proved in his years at Burnley to be one of the most efficient target men in the league, and equally proved capable of leading the line for a more attack-minded outfit with his fantastic 30 goal season for Leeds before Burnley wisely snapped him up.

His own ambitions and Burnleys well publicised meagre budget would make the move a smooth enough transition one would imagine, although of course Burnley would be loath to lose an operator of Wood's quality. A proven Premier League target man capable of bringing others into play and with a keen eye for goal to boot, Wood would be a worthy addition to Newcastle's new roster.
