5. Dan Gosling
Likely Fee: LOAN While Gosling showed a lot of promise while in Everton colours, injury and a fiery temperament have meant his first team opportunities at St James Park have been severely limited to a few appearances off the bench, including a well-taken goal against Man City. Gosling remains a good back-up option for Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote, combining some of the latter's physical presence with a more advanced position and a willingness to get into the box that is somewhat reminiscent of Gary Speed in his heyday. But he is a very rough talent at this stage, and needs more discipline in his game, as well as a lot more game time to really hone his skills and fitness, and you have to wonder whether that will be available next year. A loan might be the best option for Gosling and for Newcastle, unless he can break into the first team for a more sustained period -which might come thanks to the departure of last season's first back-up centre-midfielder Danny Guthrie - and get back that extra level of fitness that his long injury took away. Perhaps then we might see more goals like this one... http://youtu.be/E0h7Sn4oKpI
