Newcastle United's Worst-Ever Premier League XI

18. SUB 7 - Andreas Andersson

Newcastle United: 1998-99

Nationality: Swedish

Position: Forward

Cost: £3 million (Signed from AC Milan)

Premier League Appearances: 27

Premier League Goals: 4

Somehow Andersson was capped 43 times by Sweden throughout his career, despite being one of the most average footballers ever to pull on a Newcastle shirt. Signed from AC Milan for £3 million in 1997 to much fanfare, Andersson proved too weak for the Premier League and he simply could not get a grasp of English football.

The forward delivered just four goals in 27 appearances and could not make up for the shortfall in goals caused by an injury to Alan Shearer. One of the long list of hopeless forwards Newcastle have signed down the years.
