Newcastle's Plight In Numbers - What Exactly Would Relegation Mean?

12. £50 Million-£70 Million - The Drop In Annual Revenue Newcastle Would Receive

Relegation to the Championship hits revenue streams very hard - and Newcastle will receive less money from shirt sales and their retail wing (they dropped by around 30% in 2009-10), they will no longer gobble up their portion of the massive Premier League television rights, and attendances will also drop (season-ticket receipts dropped by 20% in 2009-10). All of that will equate to a drop in annual revenue of somewhere between a conservative estimate of £50 million, and a more realistic figure of £70 million. When the Magpies were relegated in 2008-09, their revenue halved from approximately £100 million to roughly £50 million - and, with their turnover at £129.7 million for 2013-14, it is estimated that it would drop down to £60 million if they were in the Championship. Mind-blowing numbers right there...
