Kenny Phillips, when healthy, is one of the best safeties in the game today. Coming out of the University Of Miami, when on the field, Kenny Phillips was a difference-maker for the New York Giants, giving them a presence in the defense backfield that they could always rely on down the stretch. However, the key words there are "when on the field", because Kenny Phillips has struggled with injuries since coming to the NFL. Praise the Philadelphia Eagles, then, for landing Kenny Phillips on such a great contract (1 year, worth up to $2.85 million). The Eagles were anything but the "Dream Team" yet again, getting destroyed week in and week out thanks to an inept offense and a miserable defense that let offenses trample them. Phillips brings serious talent to this backfield. The Eagles were in dire need of a safety who can cover and tackle, and Phillips fits the bill. Can he stay healthy? Time will tell. However, if he can stay healthy for most of, if not all the season, expect Phillips and the rest of the Eagles to fly once again.
