Twitter name:@ClayMatthews52Fans following: 573,503 Matthews popularity really took off during the early stages of last season on a tremendous level. He was already one of the best outside linebackers to begin with in the game and had already helped the Packers win the Super Bowl during the 2010 season. But what made Matthews even more popular was his displeasure for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell following the Packers game with the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 on Monday Night Football back on September 24, 2012. At the time, there were replacement officials calling the games due to the regular referees being on strike, and they ended up calling the last play of that game a touchdown for the Seahawks when it was clearly, an interception, leading fans to think the game was becoming a joke. So Matthews turns to Twitter and Facebook, and posts Goodell's actual phone number, telling the fans to call him with their disapproval. Needless to say, following this, the referees strike got settled. But fans loves Matthews strong statement and garnered even more popularity.
