No. 17: Pittsburgh Steelers
The pick: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State It was a big surprise to see the Steelers not make the playoffs in 2012, but age and injuries certainly deflated Pittsburgh's chances of another championship. One of the moves the team made was letting long-time outside linebacker James Harrison walk away, as he signed with their AFC North rival, the Cincinnati Bengals. So the Steelers could look to the draft to replace Harrison and find a fresh face to put in an extremely aging defense, which is where Werner fits. Normally, Werner is a defensive end, but in the Steelers 3-4 scheme, he could be that hybrid defensive end/linebacker that gets used more frequently now in the league. But Werner is such a strong and physical defensive lineman with a dominating presence, he would be able to replace Harrison's spot in the defense. It's not the safe pick, but it's a good for Pittsburgh to make with Harrison now gone.
