Newcastle United are one of up to 15 clubs in the race to sign Molde's Norwegian international goalkeeper Orjan Nyland. According to various outlets in his homeland, Nyland, who has had a less than settled start to the new Tippeligaen season having conceded seven goals in six appearances, is likely to move to a big European club this season. The 24-year-old has had an impressive couple of seasons at club and international level and is likely to appeal to a whole host of suitors thanks to a relatively tiny release clause in his contract of £2.3 million. Orjan, who was named in UEFA's Under-21 team of the 2013 European Championships, has won the Tippeligaen and three domestic cups since joining Molde from Hodd in 2013, as well as cementing his spot in the Norway national side. Liverpool Southampton and Celtic are rumoured to be the other British clubs in for his signature. Newcastle look set to listen to offers for current number one Tim Krul over the summer with the Dutch International becoming stale in between the St James' Park sticks. This would leave Nyland battling it out with fellow new signing Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot next season. Although, Republic of Ireland international Elliot is rumoured to be on Fulham's radar. With others looking at the six foot four inch Nyland as more of a backup option, you would have to believe that the increased chances of first team football at St James' will work in The Magpies' favour.
