PES 2019 Review: 5 Reasons It's Awesome
3. Quick Subs Have Arrived
Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?
Last year, FIFA 18 introduced Quick Subs into the fray, much to the applause of those fans who were growing tired of interrupting their game to make tactical changes. Credit where it's due, this was a clever, innovative addition from EA, and the new feature made a very simplistic improvement to the football game genre as a whole.
And while yes, FIFA fans may be quick to label this as Konami 'stealing' EA's idea, just remember that it was Konami who had the idea to land an exclusive license with UEFA all those years ago. You know, that license that was such a good idea that EA have since 'stolen' it, and implemented it into FIFA 19.
Yeah, that one.
The only niggle with Quick Subs in PES is that they do seem to pop up from the very first time the ball goes out of play, no matter how early in the game it is. Admittedly, that does feel slightly counterproductive - given that you'd typically associate substitutions with the latter stages of a match - but then again, it does cover you for injuries or red cards, so perhaps it makes sense.
Either way, it's safe to say Quick Subs are a welcome addition to PES 2019.
