Premier League: 10 Best Transfer Bargains of 2012

2. Julio Cesar (QPR, free)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMnXWWBOwYM Even though he is 33, as a goalkeeper he has at least another 5 years ahead of him. At Tottenham, Brad Friedel is keeping France's national goalkeeper out of the first team, and he's 41. I can understand his release from Inter Milan, as they push ahead with plans to rejuvenate the squad and lower their average player age, and unfortunately, I can also understand a lack of transfer interest in him. Kudos, those of you who say he has no resale value at this age, but many Premier League teams are now opting to chance and blood younger 'keepers rather than taking a a somewhat expensive fix with a ready made stalwart. Instead, QPR have a brilliant, Champions League winning goalkeeper in their ranks now. One who can command his area with true authority, who has more than enough experience to know exactly what he should do, and most importantly lest they succumb to 'second season syndrome,' one who can save them valuable points on his own. Having made 16 saves already in the league and somehow managing to keep QPR's only clean sheet from the 4 league games he's played, he's already proven that he hasn't lost it. Best of all, he keeps Rob Green out of the team, so he makes it on this list just for that. Rating: 10/10 Still an outstanding player.
