Premier League: 10 Things We Learnt From Opening Weekend

9. It Will Be A While Before Tom Huddlestone Gets A Hair Cut

Ok ok, so this may be slightly tongue in cheek, but one of my questions before the season began was €˜When will Tom Huddlestone cut his hair?€™ No time soon if Hull€™s shots on target count is anything to go by. Looks like you might have a while with that Alice band Tom!

8. Frank Lampard Deserves His New Contract

I have slated Chelsea€™s all-time top scorer just as much as anyone outside of the capital. Phrases such as €˜Too old€™, €˜Immobile€™ and €˜Past it€™ were often used by me to describe his on the field contributions but given his controlling of the midfield against a below par Hull on the opening day sort of explains it all really. I wouldn€™t be expecting to see him in the starting line-up every week and I certainly wouldn€™t expect to see him play 90 minutes every time he started, however his experience against less commanding midfields could be priceless to Chelsea in their hunt for the title. Anyway, who ever said Paul Scholes was past it?
