2. Pepe Reina - Liverpool To Napoli
Liverpool fans are still trying to make sense of the mysterious deal that saw their beloved goalkeeper shipped off to Italy on a season-long loan. Pepe Reina, an ever-present league fixture for the Reds since the start of the 2007/08 season, was allegedly left in the dark by the Liverpool hierarchy before being forced to pack his bags.
In an emotional letter to the Kop faithful, the 30-year-old expressed his remorse for the club's bizarre decision:
"It's only natural I'd be disappointed Liverpool agreed to loan me to Napoli without telling me first," he said. "I thought I deserved better than that, even though I understand that difficult decisions have to be taken in football."
£9 million signing Simon Mignolet will inherit the first-choice status between the sticks at Anfield while the former Villarreal custodian is reunited with his former manager Rafael Benitez in Naples.
