Ranking Every Super Bowl Of The 2010s, From Worst To Best

3. Super Bowl LII (2017) Philadelphia Eagles 41-33 New England Patriots

Pre-game promises of stifling defense turned into the highest scoring game in Super Bowl history via the most unlikely source imaginable.

It was Nick Foles, career journeyman quarterback and Eagles backup plunged into the spotlight after a late season injury to MVP favourite Carson Wentz, who out-duelled an almost transcendent Tom Brady to win Philadelphia’s first Super Bowl championship.

Philly’s playoff run looked like one of destiny from the off, overcoming the loss of their talismanic starting quarterback to tell a miraculous underdog story fully worthy of the city that produced Rocky Balboa.

If one were to look solely at Tom Brady’s performance in the game, it would be impossible to imagine the Patriots losing. Brady threw for over 500 yards, smashing a Super Bowl record, looking at his very best even at 40 years of age.

The tandem of Foles and Philly’s young second year coach Doug Pederson, however, were less than daunted by New England’s dynastic experience, bamboozling Bill Belichick’s defense with bold, innovative offensive plays.

The most famous of all, a pass thrillingly caught by Nick Foles himself in the end zone on the stroke of halftime, went down as the iconic play that epitomised the Eagles’ fearless performance on the biggest stage.

Although defense was almost nonexistent, the nature of the story and the staggering manner of Philly’s fight against a fearsome opponent cemented this Super Bowl as a great one.
