Real Madrid Transfers: 10 Players Zidane Should Sign
5. Franck Ribery
If history has taught us one thing (it's actually taught us many), it's that managers appointed halfway through a season look more at stop-gap signings than they do long-term projects. If Zidane or the club are reluctant to throw money around at the first opportunity, then approaching Bayern for their mercurial Frenchman might be a sound move. At 32 years of age, injury has restricted Ribery to just the solitary appearance for Bayern this season. Add to that the form Douglas Costa, and it's difficult to see how important a role Ribery is likely to play upon his return. It's not that Pep Guardiola would have no use for a player of his talents, merely that the next generation have arrived at an opportune moment to displace him and he might find it difficult to win his place back. Zidane is still a huge admirer of the player, telling Goal.com late last year that pundits and fans would be incredibly premature to write the player off. "If I know Franck, he is eager to show everything again. When he is on the pitch, he has an incredible energy and is not just at his limits, but even beyond". If Zidane fancies turning that admiration into a concrete interest, then it's easy to image Ribery's head starting to turn.
