Real Madrid Transfers: 10 Players Zidane Should Sign
6. Sami Khederia
For years, the go-to reason for Real Madrid's shortcoming was (correctly or otherwise) "well, they never properly replaced Makalele". Whilst the summer departure of Sami Khederia can't realistically be placed in the same category, there are a number of similarities in the situation; namely, that Madrid have allowed an unspectacular and steady player to leave, brought in unsuitable big name replacements, and suffered as a result. Mateo Kovai taking the place of David Beckham in this instance. Khederia, too, hasn't had the best of time's since his move to Juventus. Blighted by injury upon his arrival he's struggled to find the form necessary to replace Vidal and Pirlo, Football Italia have reported over the festive period that Juventus officials were already looking to cut their losses on him. A return to Madrid wouldn't solve the club's problems overnight, nor would it solve the player's, but Khederia enjoyed arguably his finest club-level form while Zidane was Assistant Manager to Carlo Ancelotti. A reunion would suit both parties in the short-term.
