2. Mohamed Diamé
Mohamed Diamé sparked a frantic scramble for his signature in the January transfer window with both Arsenal and Spurs
coming close to landing his signature at one point. In the end however the defensive midfielder stayed at West Ham, though there are allegations that the Frenchman has a £3.5 million release clause that could yet be activated this summer should either side feel the need. At the time the Diamé rumours went to print, it was written than Villas-Boas preferred Joao Moutinho but felt as though the former was a more viable option, particularly given the low price-tag slapped on his head. Those claims could well come home to roost this summer given recent events, though Arsenal, Everton and Fulham are also interested in the star. Of all the potential midfield targets mentioned here thus far, Diamé represents the cheaper of the options presented, and would be a shrewd buy.
