Spurs Transfers: 5 Players Likely To Leave In August

5. Benoit Assou-Ekotto

assou ekotto The Tottenham defender is facing an uncertain future this summer after enduring a truly miserable campaign at White Hart Lane last season. The Cameroonian was limited to just 11 Premier League games after a knee injury and lack of form curtailed his season and it has been reported that the 29-year-old no longer factors into manager Andre Villas-Boas' long-term plans. Assou-Ekotto has seen his once-automatic spot in Villas-Boas' starting XI filled by Kyle Naughton and centre-half Jan Vertonghen during his lengthy absence with injury and he'd do well to win it back now, particularly as Danny Rose has just returned from his loan spell at Sunderland. The Mirror reported recently that the ex-Lens defender is set for a return to France this summer after seven seasons in England. Villas-Boas wants to bring in Inter Milan's Alvaro Pereira this summer, which really would mean curtains for Assou-Ekotto.
