According to the Chronicle, Charlie Austin is likely to remain a QPR player at the start of the season despite heavy interest from Newcastle United. Should Sunderland take advantage of the delay to make a swoop of their own, they could end up with a fantastic player on their hands. Austin scored 18 goals in his first ever Premier League season, emerging from a disastrous season as one of the only QPR players with greater credibility than beforehand. Austin is tall, strong, and lethal in front of goal. He has that uncanny knack of arriving in the right place at the right time, but possesses enough power and hold-up ability to fend off the "poacher" label. He wouldn't come cheap, but should Advocaat recognise Austin's quality, he could be a very worthwhile addition to the team.
