The upstart featherweight has generated a tremendous amount of buzz within the first year of his UFC career. Despite being out with a torn ACL since August, McGregor has managed to stay in the limelight amongst interviews and consistent banter. He's become a star in a matter of two fights because of his mouth, although we'll have to wait to see if he's main event material. Some people consider him a marketing genius, while others refer to him as delusional and redundant. When your record is 2-0 in the UFC, it doesn't allow you much room to operate with your mouth. McGregor has managed to transcend that and become a commodity. He's gotten the attention of the likes of Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes, Dustin Poirier, and other featherweight contenders. People are excited to see if his ability can match his mouth. We know he's essentially become the icon for Ireland in MMA. What he has left to prove is if he can hang with the elite of the division. You may be wondering why he's so low in the rankings? We know that he's huge on the European circuit, specifically Ireland. I'm waiting to see how his popularity transfers over to the United States. He's still relatively unproven, which is why I'm hesitant to put him higher. I'm sure if he continues to win and keeps on being outspoken, the hype will continue to attract Americans.
