UFC: 10 Reasons Jon Jones Went From Good Guy To Bad Guy

6. D.W.I.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxJlgvFVZlY It probably doesn't help your positive message to the world when you run your $150,000 Continental GT Bentley into a telephone pole while intoxicated. Just saying. But on the morning of May 19, 2012, in Binghamton, N.Y., just one month after his fight with Rashad Evans, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones did just that. The champ was subsequently arrested and charged with a D.W.I.

Jones was sentenced two months later, and was forced to pay a $1,000 fine and had his driver's license suspended for six months. In addition, Jones had to complete a €œvictim impact panel€ within 90 days and he had to install ignition interlocks on all of his vehicles, which uses a €œbreathalyzer€ mechanism that will not allow the operator to start the car if intoxicated. The champ also had to pay $6,500 in restitution for the telephone pole he damaged in the crash.

It's like the priest who gets caught molesting kids, or the televangelist who ends up stealing his flock's money. When you set yourself up on a pedestal and then fall, it's never a good look.

I still watch the whole series "The Sopranos" through at least a couple times a year. The first book I ever bought was on Astral Projection. I went to college in Las Vegas and have rode a skateboard most my life. Have a dog named Riley. I've also written about MMA daily since 2008. Find me on the Tweeter @PROMMA.
