UFC: 10 Reasons Ronda Rousey Is A Victim Of Her Own Success

10. She Was Always Expected To Win Due To The Olympics

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wOqFZH4c1k There aren't a lot of Olympic athletes in MMA, and even fewer who have medalled. Satoshi Ishii is one. Sara McMann (who is in the UFC, and lost to Rousey earlier this year) is another. From day one, Ronda Rousey had a lot of pressure on her, and MMA fans had great expectations, all because she took home a Bronze medal in Judo at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Is that fair to brush off Rousey as just a judo person, for fans to use her judo experience to explain her success? Probably not. MMA is a multi-discipline sport. We've seen pure strikers and pure wrestlers sent packing in recent years. While mastering just one facet of martial arts might have got you a pass in the early years, these days fighters need to be well rounded. That Rousey has continued to grow and branch out, making giant leaps in her striking game, is a credit to her tenacity.
