UFC: 10 Reasons Ronda Rousey Is A Victim Of Her Own Success

9. Rousey Is Judged By The Friends She Keeps

Isaac Brekken/AP/Press Association ImagesIsaac Brekken/AP/Press Association ImagesLook, when you train at a top level, you have top level training partners. However, in Rousey's case, some of her cohorts have, well... questionable reputations. First, there's the Diaz brothers. Rugged, determined, tough fighters in the ring, they're chock full of piss and vinegar, and don't really mesh well with the idea of respect that runs through almost all disciplines of martial arts. Next comes Shayna Baszler, who did herself no favours by touting her own ability in a blatant display of arrogance on the Ultimate Fighter. It didn't help that Rousey fed her ego, but what was she to do, really? Tell her friend that she wasn't as good as she thought? The problem is, Rousey isn't about to ditch her friends, and beyond that, Jake Shields trains with the Diaz brothers, and no one thinks poorly of him for it. Why discredit Rousey for keeping the same company then?
