UFC: 10 Reasons Ronda Rousey Is A Victim Of Her Own Success

7. MMA Fans Don't Want Another Star Jumping Ship

LionsgateLionsgateAll the success Rousey is having in the movies right now reminds us way too much of Gina Carano leaving the game, or Rampage Jackson ignoring his MMA roots for Hollywood. We are, frankly, worried that we're going to lose the queen of WMMA. Randy Couture and GSP at least made the switch mostly after they were done fighting (aside from a few early appearances). Rousey is at risk of leaving in her prime, and fans are upset at the thought. There's a bit of a jealous backlash when it comes to Rousey's potential movie career. Fans want her to focus on the sport, and stay true to her roots, rather than pick up and leave for tinsel-town after some early success there - and really, can you blame them? The Rock did this in pro wrestling. However, by coming back from time to time, and always being one to promote the business, he has managed to hang on to the adulation of wrestling fans around the globe - but there was a shaky period. If Rousey does go, or switches to part time, there may be more rocky times ahead with the fans, but can you really hold wanting to give Hollywood a shot against her?
