6. She Acknowledged Her Love Of Pro Wrestling, And the Wrestling World Took Notice
twitterWhen you're as big as Rousey, and say you happen to love Strawberry Rhubarb pie, you can expect to see a spike in Strawberry Rhubarb pie sales, and possibly ice cream to go with it. On top of that, pie companies will knock at your door looking for endorsement deals, and pie fans will claim you as one of their own. The reality is, Brock Lesnar caused a lot of controversy because he was a "fake" fighter who got fast-tracked in the UFC - at least by some hardcore MMA fans. Well, Rousey is doing the pro wrestling thing in reverse: she has acknowledged she's a fan of it, gotten some positive response back (The SHIELD suggest she join them), and enjoyed it all, as she should. Hell, her nickname is borrowed from Rowdy Roddy Pipper after all. And her training partners call themselves the Four Horsewomen. Where's the harm? That's not how some MMA fans see it however. Ronda is a traitor, sucking up the the wrestling fanbase. It's downright dumb, and territorial, but it happens. Purist MMA fans hate any sort of association with pro wrestling, it doesn't help Rousey that she's vocal about her WWE fandom.
