UFC 152: 4 Reasons You MUST Watch

2. Flyweight History in the Making

For all the attention the main event has received since it was announced there is another World Title fight on the bill. Joseph Benavidez and Demetrious Johnson will vie to become the UFC€™s first ever Flyweight Champion. The fight should be frantic and action packed but that€™s not the main reason it makes for must-see pay per view action. The flyweight division is a new venture for the UFC making a total of eight active championships within the promotion. You only have to go back as far as 2006 to a point where they had just four active titles €“ Welterweight through Heavyweight €“ so there is real history being made at UFC 152. The introduction of the 125lb division provides vast opportunity and improved earning potential and that can only be a good thing. Whether you€™re talking about fighters forced to try and compete above their weight just to be a part of the UFC €“ Benavidez and Johnson €“ or those who were previously feeding off scraps in promotions such as Tachi Palace and Shooto - Ian McCall and Yasuhiro Urushitani €“ the newly created division opens up a whole World of excitement. Whether the division is a success going forward or not the promotion€™s first ever 125lb World title fight is a piece of MMA history that you should not be missing.
